Accessibility
What is accessibility
to be written
Our aim
Every effort is being made to make this site as accessible as possible for all visitors.
We recognise the importance of this and are trying to make sure that this site can be easily used by people with disabilities.
Pages should be easily navigable using assistive technologies and almost all text can be enlarged.
The site uses CSS and so you should be able to use your own styles to override ours.
Please note, this site is still being built and will be tested for accessibility but this has yet to happen.
The BBC gives good information about all accessibility issues
on their website.
If you don't know what operating system you have it's almost certainly windows.
If you have any problems, suggestions or feedback please do contact us.
Access keys
These access keys are available:
(all links to other pages are to the main content of that page)
- 1 - home page (main content);
- 2 - main content of current page;
- 3 - site map page;
- 4 - search page;
- 5 - main menu on a page (followed by breadcrumb trail to the page);
- 6 - this accessibility help page;
- 7 - contact us;
- 8 - sidebar (has section menu close to the top);
- 9 - website history - including table showing what is new;
- 0 - return to this list of access keys
The access key to the main menu is not yet fully implemented.
To use the access keys
This depends on your browser. If you don't know what browser you use follow the Internet Explorer instructions.
If you use Internet Explorer on a pc - hold down the alt key, press the number of the access key, release both keys then press enter (large key with a down and left arrow)
If you use Firefox on a PC - hold down the alt and shift keys and press the number of the access key.
See the table here for other browsers / machines.
