St. Mary's Lending Library

draft page

Just inside the North door there is now an elegant set of oak bookshelves half filled with books. This is our new lending library, which is now ready for use.

Money was allocated by the PCC to buy books to add to those donated by the congregation, so David Bryan and I had an interesting morning at Sarum College bookshop buying a basic selection. We tried to choose a variety to suit all tastes, some small books with meditations and prayers that will only take a few minutes a day, and some more ambitious reads.

The money for the lovely bookshelves was generously donated by a member of the congregation. As you can see, there is still plenty of room on these shelves for more books. The crate for donated books is beside the shelves so if you have any books at home that you think others might find interesting please leave them in the crate and they will be added to the library.

If you wish to borrow a book, simply write your name in the file provided. All the books are numbered on the spine, so go to the appropriate page and write your name and the date borrowed. When you return the book please write the date returned. There is no set borrowing time, but a month would seem a reasonable period; someone else may be interesting in reading it!

Please take time to browse the books; they will at least give you something to read whilst on Church Watch, and I hope they will provide food for thought.
