The nave roof

The nave and aisles were replaced in 1838-9, replacing a Saxon or Norman nave, and so the roof dates from that time.

Note the corbels - all different - and the bosses, repainted when the nave was redecorated in 1991. Whether the corbels are all Victorian or any are from the previous nave is not known. An older history is suggested by the contrast between them and the generally plain style of the new nave and aisles.
