Music Group

draft page

A music group with an unusual mixture of instruments makes use of the talents of some members of our congregation (plus a few friends). Unusual mixture of instruments? - there can’t be many ensembles around which include instruments as varied as cello, baritone horn, and electric guitar! But it all makes for a joyful sound with which to praise God - and is enjoyed by the congregation. The group became fully established during 2005 and plays regularly at the Family Eucharist on the third Sunday of each month. It has also undertaken additional commitments, such as the ‘celebration of creation’ service at St Mary’s School in July 2005 and even dipped its feet into the Beatles at the Harvest Supper!

As the confidence of the group has grown, more varied arrangements of many tunes have been introduced and more challenging items to played at the start of the service.

The group can now number up to twelve members for a Sunday service but new members would be welcome. (The group practises at 7.30pm on the Tuesday before the 3rd Sunday of the month).

“My thanks to all members of the group for their continued enthusiasm and support, it makes leading the group an enjoyable and rewarding experience.”
