St. Mary's Christmas tree festival

This was held on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th December. As many saw, the twenty-six trees provided a rich display of talent and ingenuity, the sponsors covering a wide age range. This festival was a "first" for St Mary's and our thanks must go to the organisers of this most successful event.

Donations were invited by each tree and a total of £528.25 was raised for Naomi House Children’s Hospice which covers the whole Wessex region. Mars Class at St Mary the Virgin Primary School was the winner with £54.78 in their pot. Their tree was decorated with angels dressed in white, each bearing the face of a pupil in the class.

The Christmas Fair

This was in the Vicarage Schoolroom on Saturday 9th December saw us blessed with a crisp sunny winter's day. Thanks to everyone who gave their support: to those who donated raffle prizes, made cakes, preserves and handicrafts and others who supplied the stalls with a variety of wares - and, of course, those who came to enjoy coffee and mince pies and to chat with their friends, and last but not least, the team of helpers who generously gave their time throughout the morning. £810.16 was raised for St Mary's church funds.
