2009 Pantomime: "A-lad-in a Manger"

draft page - video clips to be added shortly

A-lad-in a manger

Some thespian talent having moved to Gillingham in recent years and become part of the St. Mary's family, the idea arose of putting on a pantomime, as a form of entertainment to follow the church's Christmas / Epiphany Dinner, held this year on Friday 9th January. The idea then arose of putting on a second performance, to take place in church on the Saturday afternoon, specially for families but also for anyone not at the dinner.

The inexperience of some of the cast and the potential obstacles to seeing created by the flat floor and pillars meant that it was not deemed appropriate to make a charge (although donations were invited) - but a good time seemed to be had by all. The pictures and brief video clips on this page may help explain why - though as with any pantomime you really need to hear it to really apprecite it.

Although a video recording was made of the Saturday performance, it may be a while before there is time to edit this (including acquiring the necessary skill) to put it on the website - and it is hoped also to make a higher quality available on DVD.

Thanks

To all those who took part and made this a successful event - to David Bryan for directing, to the cast, musicians, and those involved behind the scenes.
